European Bioplastics (EUBP) represents the interests of the bioplastics industry in Europe and is committed to driving the transition towards a sustainable, circular bioeconomy. Since its establishment, EUBP has served as the central platform for industry stakeholders, from raw material suppliers and producers to brand owners and recyclers, fostering innovation, collaboration, and informed policy dialogue. With offices in Berlin and Brussels, the association ensures both a strong connection to the European market and a direct presence within the EU policy environment.
Within this project, the EUBP team, Martina Calò and Chiara Bearzotti, both with backgrounds in social sciences, lead Work Package 5 (Collaboration with stakeholders). In this role, EUBP is responsible for identifying and engaging with key stakeholder groups across the EU, including primary producers, policy and standardisation experts, and industry representatives. This collaboration supports product development and evaluation activities and contributes to the development of labelling schemes and standardisation recommendations. EUBP also leads contributions related to standards for biodegradability, ensuring scientific and regulatory coherence. Beyond WP5, EUBP plays a leading role in Work Package 7 (Exploitation strategy), focusing on regulatory compliance and on the formulation of recommendations to stakeholders, as well as coordination with other projects under the same topic to align approaches on labelling, standards, policymaking, and certification activities.
