Meet our Partner: NOVAMONT

Novamont is a certified B Corporation and Benefit Corporation, as well as one of the global leaders in biodegradable and compostable bioplastics and the development of bioproducts and biochemicals derived wholly or partially from renewable, plant-based sources. Over the years, Novamont has industrialised thirteen proprietary technologies, four of which are unique, creating bioplastics and bioproducts through a multidisciplinary approach combining bioplastics, biotechnology, agronomy, organic chemistry and product ecology.

As part of the project, Novamont will contribute to the development and validation of two types of mulch films with programmed biodegradation. These films are intended for use in herbaceous crops and will incorporate organic NPK, along with biostimulant blends based on microalgae biomass and bio-based plant protection products.

The INSOIL project team is lead by Alessandro D’Elicio, industrial chemist and research specialist at Novamont with expertise in the development and optimization of biodegradable bioplastic formulations. He serves as Technical Manager for biopolymer-based mulch film applications and brings strong experience in sustainable materials and agricultural solutions.

The team includes Marta Saccomanno, Program Management and Innovation Network; Maria Teresa Riolo, Web & social media communication; Anna Ciancolini, R&D Agronomic Sector Manager; Sara Guerrini, Agriculture Public Affairs; Ermes Esposito, Environmental Biodegradation Researcher; Maurizio Tosin, Head of the Novamont Biodegradation Laboratory; and Francesco Razza, Group Sustainability Manager.

The team works in close cooperation with Novamont’s research and strategic divisions to carry out the activities planned within the project.
