Founded in 1977, the Valencian Farmers’ Association (AVA-ASAJA) is one of the most representative and influential agricultural organizations in the Valencian Community (Spain). With nearly 20,000 members, including both farmers and livestock producers, the association plays a central role in defending and promoting the interests of the agricultural sector. AVA-ASAJA acts as the regional branch of ASAJA, the leading agricultural organization in Spain, and participates actively at the European level through COPA-COGECA, ensuring that the voice of Valencian agriculture is heard across policy, innovation, and sustainability frameworks.
AVA-ASAJA is dedicated to fostering the modernization, competitiveness, and environmental sustainability of the agri-food sector. It provides a wide range of technical advisory services, training programs, and tailored support to its members, helping them adapt to emerging challenges such as climate change, digitalization, and new market requirements. Through its Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) initiatives, the association promotes the adoption of advanced technologies, sustainable production practices, and knowledge transfer mechanisms that strengthen the resilience and long-term viability of the agricultural sector.
With more than three decades of experience in training, education, and capacity building, AVA-ASAJA has become a benchmark institution in knowledge dissemination and professional development for farmers in the Valencian Community. Over the past decade, the association has also consolidated its role as a trusted partner in R&D&I projects at regional, national, and European levels, contributing its field expertise, stakeholder network, and commitment to innovation.
At the heart of AVA-ASAJA’s innovation ecosystem lies its flagship, Sinyent Farm. Located in Polinyà del Xúquer (Valencia), Sinyent Farm is an experimental farm covering more than 30 hectares. It serves as a living laboratory for applied agricultural research, on-farm experimentation, technology validation, and demonstration activities. It provides a unique environment where farmers, researchers, companies, and public institutions collaborate to test and co-develop practical, scalable solutions that enhance agricultural performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
Through its ongoing engagement in European cooperation projects, AVA-ASAJA continues to strengthen its mission to bridge science and practice, empower farmers with innovation, and contribute to the sustainable transformation of agriculture in the Mediterranean and beyond.
The INSOIL team at AVA-ASAJA consists of Daniel Gil, researcher and responsible for the development of project tasks, and Neus Hernández, project manager and responsible for administration and overall management of project activities.
