Normec OWS, located in Gent Belgium, is a world leading consulting and testing organization in the field of biodegradation, compostability, disintegration and ecotoxicity. Established in 1988, we have tested a diverse array of materials for thousands of customers around the globe. The company is recognized by certification institutes worldwide in the field of biodegradation and organic recycling and active in standardization. In addition, we excel in waste management consultancy and sustainability assessments (LCA, SSbD) that are tailored to our customers needs.
Within the INSOIL project, Normec OWS is evaluating the safe biodegradability of INSOIL agriproducts in soil and aqueous conditions, including determination of the ecotoxicological impact, according to international standards such as EN 17033 on Biodegradable mulch film. Furthermore the suitability of organic recycling by composting or anaerobic digestion will be examined. Finally, Normec OWS is also contributing to standardization work in the field of biodegradability and ecotoxicity.
The team is led by Steven Verstichel and supported by Eveline Beeckman but involves the expertise of all our employees working on analyses, biodegradation, ecotoxicity and compostability. The company has more than 35 years of experience in this field.
